    • Video of The Longcut live at Manchester Academy 3 (12th Oct 2009)

I saw The Longcut on Monday night at the Academy 3. I can’t understand why this band aren’t massive.. they’ve been a big favourite of mine since I first caught them live in June 2004 (when they supported Bloc Party at the Bierkeller).

The band are currently on a UK tour this month – go and see them live:

Here’s a video I shot at the concert which will hopefully convert you :)

The Longcut photos at Manchester Roadhouse (18th Aug 06)

The Longcut played a secret show at the Manchester Roadhouse on Friday (18th Aug), under the alias ‘Cliff Rescue and The Helicopters’. The Club Save Yourself night was the first one in their new home at the Roadhouse. A few quick photos are below… I’ll upload a few more later:

Here’s a few photos I shot from the audience of The Longcut at Manchester DPercussion festival (which took place on Sat 5th Aug 2006). The band played the same stage two years ago, although much lower down on the bill – I’ll try and dig out those photos shortly…

Secret headliners to play Club Save Yourself this Friday

Club Save Yourself have moved homes from Manchester’s Waldorf Hotel to the Roadhouse, and to celebrate the new venue, this Friday (18th Aug) will see local band Movement play alongside what is being billed as secret guests ‘Cliff Rescue And The Helicopters’ (although not this Cliff Rescue And The Helicopters). Whilst this has to be Manchester’s worst kept ’secret’, if you were in any doubt, a cursory glance at the press release should make things a bit clearer:

Yes people, it’s here! After 15 months of mayhem and madness in the sweaty, disorganised chaos of the Waldorf, we emerge, blinking into the, well, subterranean darkness and slightly more organised chaos of our beautiful new home. Brace yourself for the very first…
      .
      SAVE YOURSELF!

      AT THE ROADHOUSE

      FRIDAY 18TH AUGUST 2006

And what a debut it’s going to be – we’ve pulled off something really special for you, our favourite dandies and divas. It’s only what you deserve after all. Now Brace! Brace! again because we’ve got this crazy sh*t happening…

      Playing live:

      CLIFF RESCUE AND THE HELICOPTERS
What can we say about our last act of the night, CR&TH? Mystery surrounds this secretive Manchester-based band but our sources reckon these three are gonna absolutely blow the roof off! ‘But who are they?’ we hear you call, ‘What do they sound like?’ Perhaps we should try to give you a concise blurb about the band, but there is just no shortcut to describe them. Suffice to say, if like us you’re not one for a quiet life you’d better get down early, otherwise you’ll be getting the late night bus home…

      MOVEMENT http://www.myspace.com/movementhq
Who better to kick off this new chapter in our history than Save Yourself favourites Movement, soon to release their debut single on our very own record label (more news on this soon!). The boys bring their exhilarating, dark, new-wave sound to the Roadhouse stage and our source (nosy b*stard isn’t he!) tells us that there will be tonnes of freshly minted new songs mixed in with your old favourites… ‘an infectious whirl of Suede and the Las wearing black eyeliner’ ManchesterMusic

Reminder – The Longcut are on Channel 4 tonight at 2335pm

Tune into Channel 4’s Transmission With T-Mobile tonight at 23:35pm as Manchester band The Longcut will be performing their next single (out in October) ‘A Tried And Tested Method’. Also featured on the show are Badly Drawn Boy, The View, Orson and The Egg. The show itself was recorded last Friday (4th Aug) at the 3Sixty Media studio in Manchester

Here’s a snippet from a recent The Longcut MySpace blog posting about the new single:

Its backed by a new song that some of you may recognize
from the gigs, and also (hopefully) a cover of the Euros Childs song
“Circus Time” which we are currently recording ourselves. We’ll be
posting more details about this nearer the time.

We’ve also been working on a few remixes recently, One is a Maps tune called “Start Something” and the other is “Sapphire Eyes” by Serena Maneesh. Hopefully we’ll be able to collect them all together on cd at some point but we’ll keep you posted on that one. We should also have a few more european dates coming up soon but plans aren’t finalised so again we’ll keep you posted

If you can’t wait until October for the new single, The Longcut will be releasing an online EP avaliable on 21st August. The EP includes four tracks, Idiot Check, Vitamin C, Lonesome No More! and The Kiss Off, which were recorded at Airtight studios. Available for the bargain price of £1.50 from iTunes/ Napster or free if you’re on the band’s mailing list

Finally, you can check out the video for The Longcut’s most recent single ‘Vitamin C’ (released in July) on YouTube below:
