Manchester band Keith have made it to the final four of Channel 4’s Road To V competition along with Bombay Bicycle Club, The Holloways and Sunny Day Sets Fire. The eventual winner will get an opening slot at this year’s V Festival, which takes place over the weekend of 18th/19th August
Meanwhile, Keith head off to Japan this week to play the Summer Sonic festival, but will return to play UK live dates towards the end of this month – catch them at:
I caught Peter Bjorn and John live last night (Tues 8th Aug) at the Manchester Roadhouse – pretty much on the strength of their soon-to-be-massive summer hit ‘Young Folks‘ (and a few tracks on the band’s MySpace). Check out a quick video I shot of them performing ‘Young Folks’ below:
Unfortunately my digital camera couldn’t cope with the bassline, so the sound is all distorted, but you do get to see the lead singer (Peter?) climb up onto the speakers in front of the crowd, and also his laughable attempt at whistling :) (plus it gives you the chance to see the band in the flesh, rather than in cartoon form!). The Concretes singer Victoria Bergsman wasn’t at the show to perform the duet, so Peter sang both parts
If that’s not made your ears bleed (!), you can alternatively check out the offficial video to the song via YouTube:
Overall the gig was enjoyable, but I’m not sure they’ve got anything in their locker as huge as ‘Young Folks’
