Latest Akoustik Anarkhy signings It’s A Buffalo played at Friends Of Mine last Saturday night (12th Aug) at Manchester’s Joshua Brooks.
Here at IndieMusicBlog.com we just can’t get their tune ‘Divorce Song’ out of our heads — go and check out It’s A Buffalo’s MySpace and take a listen
Here’s a few pics we snapped on Saturday night:
Tune into Channel 4’s Transmission With T-Mobile tonight at 23:35pm as Manchester band The Longcut will be performing their next single (out in October) ‘A Tried And Tested Method’. Also featured on the show are Badly Drawn Boy, The View, Orson and The Egg. The show itself was recorded last Friday (4th Aug) at the 3Sixty Media studio in Manchester
Here’s a snippet from a recent The Longcut MySpace blog posting about the new single:
Its backed by a new song that some of you may recognize
from the gigs, and also (hopefully) a cover of the Euros Childs song
“Circus Time” which we are currently recording ourselves. We’ll be
posting more details about this nearer the time.
We’ve also been working on a few remixes recently, One is a Maps tune called “Start Something” and the other is “Sapphire Eyes” by Serena Maneesh. Hopefully we’ll be able to collect them all together on cd at some point but we’ll keep you posted on that one. We should also have a few more european dates coming up soon but plans aren’t finalised so again we’ll keep you posted
If you can’t wait until October for the new single, The Longcut will be releasing an online EP avaliable on 21st August. The EP includes four tracks, Idiot Check, Vitamin C, Lonesome No More! and The Kiss Off, which were recorded at Airtight studios. Available for the bargain price of £1.50 from iTunes/ Napster or free if you’re on the band’s mailing list
Finally, you can check out the video for The Longcut’s most recent single ‘Vitamin C’ (released in July) on YouTube below:
Manchester band Keith have made it to the final four of Channel 4’s Road To V competition along with Bombay Bicycle Club, The Holloways and Sunny Day Sets Fire. The eventual winner will get an opening slot at this year’s V Festival, which takes place over the weekend of 18th/19th August
Meanwhile, Keith head off to Japan this week to play the Summer Sonic festival, but will return to play UK live dates towards the end of this month - catch them at:
I caught Peter Bjorn and John live last night (Tues 8th Aug) at the Manchester Roadhouse - pretty much on the strength of their soon-to-be-massive summer hit ‘Young Folks‘ (and a few tracks on the band’s MySpace). Check out a quick video I shot of them performing ‘Young Folks’ below:
Unfortunately my digital camera couldn’t cope with the bassline, so the sound is all distorted, but you do get to see the lead singer (Peter?) climb up onto the speakers in front of the crowd, and also his laughable attempt at whistling (plus it gives you the chance to see the band in the flesh, rather than in cartoon form!). The Concretes singer Victoria Bergsman wasn’t at the show to perform the duet, so Peter sang both parts
If that’s not made your ears bleed (!), you can alternatively check out the offficial video to the song via YouTube:
Overall the gig was enjoyable, but I’m not sure they’ve got anything in their locker as huge as ‘Young Folks’
