Jim Noir is huge news on the mp3blogging circuit at the moment, as his debut album Tower Of Love hits US shelves on Tuesday (8th Aug), but twelve months ago it was the very talented Jack Cooper behind the mic, enthralling the crowds in the Manchester sunshine
(stay tuned to IndieMusicBlog.com as we’ll have plenty of Jim Noir concert photos up shortly, including his debut gig under the name ‘Pie Match’ which he played in Manchester back in May at Akoustik Anarkhy)
Loose Canon are the focus of part 4 of our DPercussion 2005 recap….
The Canon have been keeping a very low profile of late, tucked away in a city centre rehearsal studio for most of the year, writing new tunes and trying to find a new drummer. Towards the end of May I was lucky enough to see the band play a secret show to friends & family at the studios – a gig which also saw the debut (?) live performance of aA new signings It’s A Buffalo.
There are rumours of an imminent return to the live circuit for Loose Canon… I would stick my neck out and say possibly even this weekend at secret location in Macclesfield ;) The band should have a MySpace up and running shortly
In part 3 of our Manchester D:Percussion recap of last year’s festival we present Autokat, a great local band signed to Akoustik Anarkhy Records. Since last summer’s D:Percussion, Autokat guitarist Rowley left the band to make his own music (under the guise Yacht Club), whilst the ‘Kat also continue to make beautiful music – see Autokat’s official site for streams of ‘Dish Out’ and ‘Get Off The Bar’ (a split single released in May this year)
Anyway, in anticipation of the weekend’s frivolities we thought we’d dig out some photos we shot at last year’s event… first up is (the now sadly defunct) Alfie… enjoy:
